Note : If you have a large Estate which may be subject to any Inheritance Tax, please advise the Solicitor as you may require to obtain independent advice from an Accountant in this regard.

(INHERITANCE TAX)

If the value of your estate is you are on your own exceeds £325,000 from April 2009, we will require to discuss potential IHT planning. If your estate including any assets held in trust and  gifts made within seven years of death is more than the threshold, inheritance tax will be due at 40% on the amount over the nil rate band.

If you are a married couple as from 9 October 2007, spouses and civil partners are able to transfer their nil rate band allowance. IHT may not therefore be such an issue. Our attached leaflet clarifies the position further.  You should however clarify matters with the party preparing your Will if you are uncertain about IHT in respect of your estate.

Regardless of the size of your estate it would be beneficial if you could provide brief details here.
