john croppedJohn is an Ayrshire man born and bred and attended schools in Largs and Saltcoats before heading to Glasgow University as a fresh faced 17 year old. John managed to secure his Honours degree. Upon completion of the Diploma, John managed to secure an interview for a traineeship at McLennan Adam Davis. Having met with Colin, Glenn and Iain McLennan, all four hit it off and the reward was a traineeship being offered the following day. John commenced work in June 2002.

During his traineeship, it became clear that John’s talents lay in the field of criminal law. The Office mantra of “you can’t buy this type of experience” at times may have led John to question who would want to pay for such experience(!) but it clearly did him the world of good as he quickly moved up the ranks and was assumed as a Partner at the age of 30. John deals with many of the more demanding and complex cases we have in the Office. John has built his reputation on his good command and knowledge of the law as well as his ability to deliver impassioned and persuasive pleas to the Court on behalf of his clients. He is a familiar face in all of the local Courts at Ayr, Kilmarnock and Stranraer, dealing with matters in the Justice of the Peace Court, the Sheriff Court and Sheriff and Jury Courts.

In his spare time, John spends much of it with his wife, two children and his golden Labrador. Many a weekend is spent roaming the countryside with his family and their dog when he and his son are not at Celtic Park. John also plays 5 a-side football with other local solicitors on a weekly basis. He has a keen interest in music, which is not confined to listening to in his home in Largs or in the car but also attending concerts and festivals.
